It started in the commons of a dorm building atop a mountain in Tennessee. Four friends, all searching for a way to create music again, began writing and playing together. They wrote and played between classes, jobs and on the weekends. They wanted to effectively convey their passions through music. A few months later, they started playing shows in downtown Chattanooga, TN, where their fan base still lies. Local favorite venues such as The Warehouse, JJ's Bohemia, The Honest Pint now fill up with fans eager to see the local rock 'n roll act.
They recorded their first EP, Prodigal Again, in the summer of 2011 with producer Stephen Nichols (So Long Forgotten, Moonlight Bride). In April 2012, they released the "All We Fell" single, and hitting the road in the summer to tour to the northeast and back.
"The idea of Rigoletto is to create something beautiful - to help people escape from the parts of their lives for a few minutes and enjoy art that helps express themselves and that they can relate to," says drummer Kirk Ellis.
"Ultimately, playing music for the sole reason of attaining popularity is pointless," says guitarist Dave Griffis. "You should create music for its inherent value. There is value in changing people's lives and in creating pure beauty. That's what we strive to do. " And that, is exactly the idea behind "Delusions of Grandeur," their spring 2013 full length.
A passionate live show, intricate writing style, and the desire to create a unique musical experience for the listener are just a few examples of what separates Rigoletto from other artists in the industry. Look for Rigoletto's debut full length album coming Spring 2013.
